  Welcome

the Trip

Be 20 again!  (at least for one weekend)

When is it?

The Duke Brothers Delt Fishing Trip is held every year, often on one of the first weekends in June. If this seems vague and indefinite to you, you are not alone.

Why the Duke Brother's name?

The Boys of the Delt Country Club and Health Spa at USC started camping and fishing together in 1970. The next year the Duke Bros. moniker was first attached to the trip. You can read the full story on the Trips page. Initially we stayed at the Cherokee Lodge in June Lakes (until we got uninvited back), then we stayed at June's Big Rock Resort (until we got uninvited back), followed a few years later by Tamarack Lodge at Twin Lakes in Mammoth (until we... yeah, you know the chorus by now). Since 2002 we've stayed at Bill Vogel's "El Rancho Trouto" in Aspen Springs, near Tom's Place (halfway between Bishop and Mammoth Lakes).

What is it?

The brothers of Delta Pi chapter of Delta Tau Delta at USC hold an annual guy's reunion in the High Sierra. Typically, between 12 and 36 brothers attend. While titled a fishing trip, it's mostly a relaxing weekend in the Sierra spending time with the guys and renewing those Delt bonds.

Who's invited?

All former and current inmates of the Delt Country Club and Health Spa. All classes are welcome, as the stories, song, food, sports, wine, cigars, drinks and great fellowship transcend the ages!

What goes on?

Most arrive by carpool on Thursday or Friday to spend time with the Bros golfing, fishing, skiing, mountain biking, hiking, playing bocce and horseshoes, soaking in the Delt-sized spa or just relaxing in the Sierra. On a typical Thursday we'll rent a group of boats on Crowley Lake. This gives everyone a relaxed few hours to catch up on the past years' happenings. Friday is a free day, with smaller groups splitting up to go fishing at the high altitude lakes, skiing, golfing, or relaxing depending on the weather and your desires.

Saturday is the Main Event. Most of us hang out at the old haunts in the June Lakes loop. While each has his own favorite slate of activities, most start with breakfast and Bloody Mary's at the Tiger Bar, followed by a hike or bike into Walker Lake for the scenery and/or trout fishing. After the hike out, meet the Bros by 1:00 PM for a burger and amazing malt or milk shake at the Silver Lake Resort Cafe - it's just the ticket! If you can do without fishing, substitute a morning of golf in Mammoth or Bishop, trap shooting in June Lakes, skiing at Mammoth when there's enough snow, or just sleep in.

On Saturday afternoon everyone meets up by the banks of Rush Creek at the "Big Bend" for some story swapping and the group picture.

We finish up with the main Reunion Dinner on Saturday night. Sunday is travel day - breakfast at Tom's Place is followed by packing and a quick cleanup, then goodbyes until next week or next year.

There's even a growing number that arrive on Wednesday afternoon via Rusty's in Bishop and Tom's Place, for that maximum "20 year old" effect!
