2007 Delta Pi Reunions

(Yes, we held TWO this year!!!)

Duke Bros. Santa Ynez

In 2007, we held yet another great Duke Bros. Delt Fishing Trip reunion in the High Sierra, our thirty-eighth annual June golf-ski-drink-eat-fish-relax trip. Due to last winter's drought there wasn't any skiing and the fishing was slow, but the golf was epic and the Boys were in rare form both on and off the lakes! Norm and Kyle won the prize for the longest commute (in hours), driving from Idaho. Click the Fishing Trip link above to browse the trip pages.

We also (in celebration of Ron's not-dying again!) started a new tradition: A July guys-and-gals golf and wine tasting trip to the Santa Ynez valley! The current thinking is for this trip to be held bi-annually (that's every-other-year for those of you that tasted a little too much wine!) The inaugural event was fantastic. Barry Hammil won the prize for the longest commute (in miles), arriving from Florida.

Click on the underlined links in the text below for more information on the various places we went, and click on the Golf & Wine Trip link above to browse the picture pages.

  • On Friday morning a large group of the bros enjoyed a challenging round of golf at La Purisima, the third-toughest course in California.

  • Friday evening we all enjoyed Delt companionship accompanied by fine wines and gourmet cuisine at Mattei's Tavern, a historic stage stop in Los Olivos.

  • On Saturday Howard arranged for us to go Wine Tasting with a decidedly personal touch in the Santa Ynez Valley's recently designated appellation of Santa Rita Hills AVA.

    • In the morning we were hosted by the owner/winemaker of Gypsy Canyon Winery, where we drank wine made from 100+ year old vines planted by the Spanish padres.

    • That afternoon we were the first to taste the 2006 vintage of Foley Estates wines, decanted directly from the oak casks. We learned all about the winery and the wine-making process directly from Foley's winemaker Alan Phillips and enologist Colin Murphy.

    • Later, a group of us went over to Richard Sanford's Alma Rosa Winery and sampled their most recent vintages.

  • Saturday evening Howard and Dana Erenberg graciously hosted all of us for a pool party and barbeque at their equestrian estate in Santa Ynez. Pat Fuscoe wow'ed the group with a fantastic slide show of historical Delt-house photos. And a special nod goes to Jon Esparza for hosting the bar!
